About us

As one of Victoria’s key government agencies, we provide contemporary revenue management services that make it easier for customers to do business with us.

Our core role is to administer state taxes and duties, and to deliver significant programs, for the benefit of all Victorians. Using agile systems and processes, we endeavour to deliver each of these key responsibilities to the highest standards of efficiency and customer service.

This year, we collected more than $14.3 billion to support hospitals, public transport, roads, schools and many other functions of government. Additionally, we oversaw initiatives designed to encourage and support Victoria’s growth, and provided targeted financial assistance through concessions to pensioners, grants to first-home owners and employers as well as reuniting people with unclaimed moneys and other important taxation activities.

We also, amongst many highlights, implemented the Back to Work Scheme and developed the framework for a range of other legislative changes.

Our office acts under a framework agreement between the Victorian Treasurer, the Secretary of the Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF), and the Commissioner of State Revenue. Full financial reports and other annual reporting requirements appear in DTF’s annual report. The information in this review is complementary to that report.
